  • Bettany was painted blue for the black and white scenes because blue looks good in grayscale. Maroon did not look as good and grayscale as blue did, and viewers wouldn't be able to tell the actual color with the film in grayscale.
  • Painting Bettany blue was crucial to preserving these scenes' authentic 50s sitcom feeling. The Marvel Cinematic Universe likes to stay as close to the era they portray as possible. The stories would not be as engaging for viewers if they didn't try to stay relevant to the era in which the stories are hosted.
